Hello photography friends!
Confession: Several years ago, I tried to lead my family on our first big road trip together. I completely ruined it for them.
I starved them, exhausted them, and dragged them from location to location trying to take iconic pictures at their expense.
The trip was followed by three and a half difficult years for us, and then three and a half years of growth for me as an individual and us as a family.
Early this summer, we hit the road again to celebrate 10 years of parenthood. Naomi and I loaded the van in the pouring rain, ignored the engine warning light, and drove east for a family adventure.
I’ll tell you more about the adventure in a future newsletter.
Here is a small collection of photos and two videos.
Download this starter collection and over the next few weeks, I’ll walk you through my process of making bodies of work (galleries, slideshows, books, magazines). Making this collection wasn’t easy so I share some of that struggle in the monograph.
I don’t normally do photo walks but I pushed myself to get up before the sun and explore the east coast. The first video is about what was going through my mind as I photographed Red Head Harbour in PEI, Canada.
The second video is about a new camera technique that I discovered - one that aligns with my vision as a photographer.
I’m always grateful to hear from you, a like-minded friend in photography (you can hit reply to this email).
I give away most of what I create completely free. If you’d like to support me, you can upgrade to a paid subscription. Either way, I’m happy you’re on this journey with me.
